DCI detectives at Kiamumbi police station in West Coffee, Nairobi, on Wednesday arrested a woman accused of causing the death of a child.
Maureen Nyaboke allegedly assaulted her boss's child and caused internal bleeding and death, the boy's family claimed.
Her employer, identified as Wangui Wambeca, raised the issue of the boy's death on social media and sparked riots among Kenyans who wanted the girl arrested.
"We have a post-mortem report and it showed that the baby had a lot of blood inside and died on Saturday." We will investigate and find out what happened and prosecute him according to the law, "he said.
He added that the complainant had already written a statement to the police and asked to continue after the child's funeral, which is expected on Thursday.
He said the accused, after being fired by Wangui Wambeca, sought a new job at West Coffee and was hired as a housekeeper.
"We have arrested the woman whose picture was circulating online after her new employer in West Coffee Ward reported her to us, and we are waiting for the family to finalize the funeral arrangements and prosecute her," he said.
